Ashy Verses
by Ronel L. Alijado

Sitting quietly
On a rocking chair
On a paper
I made a poem
To make a world
You and me
Loving me
Not only I
Love must be
Hugging together
Building home
Raising children
Eyes telling me
You are life
Touches show me
You care and enjoy
Kisses express
You protect and save
Both of us
Picking fruits
Cutting thorns
But the stanzas
Blown away
To a fireplace
Destroying the world
Turning it into ashes
I realized painfully
It was just poetry

Incomparable Dream
by Ronel L. Alijado

I need to forget you.
But my mind still remembers you.
Many times, I look at things,
I see your face.
Many times, I listen to a song.
I hear your voice.
Many times, I touch a pillow,
I feel your caresses.
Many times, I smell a flower.
You scent me around.
Many times, I eat treats,
I taste the sweetness of your memories.
Still loving you.
No one replacing you in my heart.
If a new love comes,
Must be beyond extraordinary,
For you are incomparable, my dream.

That Night We Were Together on the Shore of Zamboanguita with the Stars in Heaven
Hugging and Kissing You While You Were Asleep
I miss you very much!!!!

For Sale: The One
by Ronel L. Alijado
The man went to the market,
Saw apples, roses, pork;
Yet he bought the one,
Like a diamond sparkling,
A wine intoxicating,
A chocolate tempting,
A scepter priding,
Or a flame burning.
On day, the one was his,
But not on night,
Could not sleep;
Purchased the one again.
Evening came,
The one leaving; robbed.
Sleepless night.
The one disturbing him.
Selling and buying;
Leaving or stealing;
Insomnia, ailment, and death.
The one displayed still
There at the market
For sale: The One
Sold out
For sale: The One - again....

Alcohol, Smoke and Blood
by Ronel L. Alijado

Beer, wine, rhum;
Cigarettes and drugs;
Not mountaintops but pits;
Not white but black.

Guns and knives;
Not lions but rodents;
Fuck, bullshit, asshole;
Not plaques and sweets - poisons.

Theft, rape, murder;
Wounds, and fractures;
Cells, ropes, needles, caskets;
Not beds, not tables, not wings.

West not east;
Where is the Sun not the bulb?
But that Center.
That natural Light!

The Dancer's Answers

by Ronel L. Alijado

How does a man dance?
Does he make his moves?
Does Music determine choreography?
Does he choose to dance at the left or right?
Does he opt to dance forward or backward?
Does he select to dance upward or downward?
Does Music direct him to dance?
Does man need to dance all steps perfectly that Music asks?
Does man dance without faults?
Does Music play on the dancer?
Does a dancer need Music?
Does Music become music without a dancer?
Does a dancer become himself without Music?
Does Man or music dance?
Yes or No, Dancer?
