For Sale: The One
by Ronel L. Alijado
The man went to the market,
Saw apples, roses, pork;
Yet he bought the one,
Like a diamond sparkling,
A wine intoxicating,
A chocolate tempting,
A scepter priding,
Or a flame burning.
On day, the one was his,
But not on night,
Could not sleep;
Purchased the one again.
Evening came,
The one leaving; robbed.
Sleepless night.
The one disturbing him.
Selling and buying;
Leaving or stealing;
Insomnia, ailment, and death.
The one displayed still
There at the market
For sale: The One
Sold out
For sale: The One - again....
